A 1930s Globe Wernicke ebonised oak bookcase comprised of three tiers which are sectional and can be taken apart for easy transportation.

A modular design originally used by Barrister's which has glazed doors on hinges that open upwards and have a small metal circular puller to pull and lift them open.

Circa 1930's with original Globe-Wernicke Co. logo printed on the inner back of each section.

A minimalist style which would look good in many modern homes suiting most decor especially if you have an eclectic mix of items.

Useful as a bookcase, a home mini bar and as a collector's cabinet for all your treasures. How about for shoe storage to display your favourites.

In good structural condition, an aged patina and wear / chips to the lacquer consistent with age as show in imagery, this has not been refinished so is as original as possible.

The hinges all work well, although they stick a little with a little creak and have been oiled however this is a pre-loved item so use with care.

No cracks in the glazing, th glass is original.

The Globe Wernicke Co was born in the late 1800s in Cincinatti, USA, producing a unique design of stackable bookcases. The design of these adaptable units was so successful that by the turn of the century The Globe Wernicke Co Ltd was established in the England and other similar designs were being produced around Europe. Advertising for the company remarked on how the sectional construction of the bookcases helped to “solve the moving problem” by allowing them to be easily deconstructed and moved from room to room or house to house “being susceptible to many artistic combinations
