-About-

Durlston Designs

-made an array of modernist in the 1960s and are best known for their adjustable table mirrors . Produced in various sizes mostly in brushed steel or white / black coated metal.

The bases vary either; double pronged horizontals, angle, tulip base, three pronged, and swivel with some versions on marble

The USA market prizes these (rightly) where you can expect to pay up to $1000 for a good example.

The quality of construction and finish would be very expensive to buy new today, making these classics a bargain for any design conscious interior.

They have a design influence taken from Danish mid century designers Jacobsen or Quistgaard. Durlston Designs was based out of Hersham in Surrey and British manufacturing was as specialised in industrial design which should be celebrated and the range of mirrors produced here are valued by collectors worldwide.

Owen F Thomas / Robert Welch

These mirrors are often wrongly described as being by Robert Welch or in association with.

Referencing Welch's book 'Hand and Eye' there is no mention of him working for Durlston in his book.

Often products are wrongly associated and we believe that Owen F Thomas should be credited and that Durlston pieces are well made design objects in their own right.
