A stylish modernist midcentury 1950s stool made by British furniture manufacturer Kandya, designed by Frank Guille for the ;Program' range.

With black vinyl padded seats with an ergonomic curved shape which dips for comfortable sear contrasting with slender legs and rubber feet which gives a striking silhouette..

An excellent example of post war, British utilitarian design at its best .

Simple and functional .

The stool is constructed with a steel rod frame which has its original black powder coating (some chipping to the paintwork on the lower bar), moulded plywood seat , with black padded vinyl seat.

FRANK GUILLE

Frank Guille (1927-2018) was one of Britain's finest mid-century designers. His work was defined by a dedication to function, utility and simplicity.

Guille became a consultant then chief designer to Kandya in the early 1950s and would remain so until 1976. In addition to furniture design he was also a graphic designer and illustrator, overseeing and illustrating the layout of the Kandya catalogues in which his furniture appeared.
